Several years ago, in the great expanses of the Internet, there emerged a new character: #instadancerkatya – a kind of a narcissistic double of the Moscow artist Katya Isaeva. Short, lopped videos featuring a young attractive brunette that performs various dancing moves and combinations, sound tracked by contemporary pop hits, started to flicker in her friends’ social media feeds. Isaeva experiments within the strict confines of the clip format, which takes into account the chronic attention deficit of the viewers, while the standard smartphone photo filters help her to artistically play up and “improve” the picture... This “guerilla” net project, which adopts the devices and clichés of contemporary selfie-culture, should be understood not only as an ironic commentary on the extreme egocentrism of the digital age. In equal measure, the artist – who did, in fact, become fascinated with dance in her thirties – is talking about the complex, multiple identity of people around us. With the help of virtual likenesses in social media, seemingly always more perfect than the original, she examines and liberates subpersonalities concealed in every one of us. Anna Arutyunyan / Несколько лет назад на просторах Интернета появился персонаж #instadancerkatya – своеобразный нарциссический двойник московской художницы Кати Исаевой.... Исаева экспериментирует в рамках строгого клипового формата, который учитывает хронический дефицит внимания зрителей, а стандартные телефонные фотофильтры помогают ей художественно обыграть, усовершенствовать «сырую» картинку. Этот «партизанский» сетевой проект, заимствующий приемы и штампы сегодняшней селфи-культуры, следует воспринимать не только как ироничный комментарий на тему предельного эгоцентризма цифровой эпохи. Художница, искренне увлекшаяся танцами после тридцати, говорит здесь о сложноустроенной, множественной идентичности современного человека. При помощи виртуальных подобий в социальных медиа – казалось бы, непременно более совершенных, чем оригинал – она исследует и раскрепощает субличности, сокрытые в каждом из нас. Анна Арутюнян
